Man of Steel Review

This is a quick review on my thoughts and feelings about the new Superman film-Man Of Steel. Firstly, i would just like to credit the amazing work by Zack Snyder(director) and Christopher Nolan (producer)- those two really set tone from the offset what can only be a success.

I hate to dig into or complain, but we all know that the previous Superman films were a bit of a shambles, we all knew it, we all were beyond it. When i heard about a new Superman film i thought, not again, another one, but then they got some backing, some force with cast and production alike and it tuned the new film finely into becoming something more than what it was intended(quote from the film, had to throw it in there).

Escaping from all that, we see Superman in his element, from where he began to the hero he becomes, from a baby to a man, and a super one at that, but i think the most intense moments were when he was just a boy, the introduction starts off when he was just conceived on planet Krypton. This introduction for me personally was by far my favorite part of the movie, it shows the beginning of how it began almost perfectly, and this is what starts of a truly spectacular performance from the beginning.

The Villain in this film was a Krypton born man called General Zod, he was to see the beginning of a new Kyrpton, after its collapse on of course where else, but the planet earth.  This all sounds very cliche, i know i know, because well it is, but from time to time, you can allow it. Amir Mokri the director of photography for this film, really pulled out all the stocks with this one, and made everything work perfectly and capture everything needed. The scenes are truly epic and Krypton is a set perfectly, it helps by having the backing of Syncopy and Legendary studios of course.

Henry Cavill (Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane) and Russell Crowe (Supermans father Jor-El ) were all superb in this movie, casting Henry was certainly a risk, but a well worth risk and worked very well i feel, Amy Adams as always was magnificent and i can’t speak more highly of Russell Crowe’s contribution to this film, he did a lot more than was expected and really set tune to the how great this movie really was .

Ofcourse with a superhero like Superman and with his traits it’s near impossible to not have a few moments where you think “wait..what”, but there is just no way around this i feel, so even with some outrageous moments, the action filled epic scenes fade them out. Furthermore, their were a few moments in the film were things were laughable when they were supposed to be serious, but hey with what film as action packed as they do you not do that.

Overall , this film made it for me, i loved it, it looked and sounded brilliant so credit to the people behind that, and everything within it made this really the first Superman film i really got myself in to and believed in. With this installment of the franchise i believe that more will come and with bigger and better scenes, hopefully again with the backing of Zack and Christopher.

I give this film a solid 9/10, which is brave , but totally deserving.

Avengers 2

This blog regards the casting news and rumors surrounding Avengers 2. I heard that many of the stars in Avengers Assemble aren’t with their current contracts, which is fairly heavy on Marvels behalf, when especially Robert Downey Junior will want a big pay up. It is rumored that many of the stars including RDJ and Chris Evans (Captain America) are looking of an increased wage on top of their already substantial contract. RDJ with his recent film iron man 3 coming out shows again how he’s still the biggest marvel superhero at the moment, and as he plays the part so well i would be very surprised if they changed him around, however i think under the biggest threat is Chris Hemsworth (Thor), it is said that his contract with Marvel only runs till the end of the Thor the dark world, so does that mean that he could be the first to be axed and replaced who knows, but Marvel did a very good job casting last time, so i doubt many of the actors will change if any and no drastic changes will be made.

P.S i think RDJ deserves the money don’t you?

Fast and Furious 7-James Wan

Fast and furious, after the 6th installment coming out so soon, then recently to have the director Justin Lin say he won’t be doing another, due to the deadline and pressure of the time period in which they have to get it done by. Justin Lin who has been the director from Tokyo Drift you Fast 6 has now left, which leaves Etalon the production company incredibly short changed.

However, as of now James Wan, mainly known for his ability to scare, with the films Insidious, Saw and Dead Silence, which don’t get me wrong are some of the horror/gore films made, but to then put his talent in horror to match up to something so exponentially different to his other movies to then put him for one of the biggest franchise of action film today is slightly beyond belief.

It’s really hard to understand the thought process beyond, i have nothing against the director James, but it is not is genre and is very hard to see how he will match up to this new film and take over the reigns. I really from the bottom of my heart hope he pulls it off and proves me wrong, but  i really can’t see it working, in my eyes it just doesn’t fit together, i really can’t see it going well, especially with the demands of Etalon.co.

Inception

I think it would be only righteous and fair, to start with my favorite film of all time. Inception created masterfully by director Christopher Nolan really sets off a new dimension for film and establishes something that can be put into one set genre, unless the genre of course is complete mind-fuck. This really helps you to set this film apart and now relate it to anything you’ve seen before, you can just sit back and enjoy something new and un-explored, which really allows the viewer to just settle in and love this film.

The main characters established straight away, our Mal played by Marion Cotillard, Arthur played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Cobb played by the unbelievable Leonardo DiCaprio. The actors named in the latter, really pulled out all the stocks in this movie and set it apart from any other film they’d done previously, making them really brand themselves as an actor, but i do feel without Christopher Nolan and the glorious plot, the film would of fell short. However, a just want to congratulate Christopher on this film, after the marvel that was Memento and then moving on to the Batman films, he’s quickly made a name for himself, and tipped himself as one of the greatest actors out there at the moment.

Now to the film itself, the film which searches around the topic of sleep and within dream state, it really is an interesting topic and i am so glad that Nolan did research on the topic, before going face first into it. The film is epic on an incredibly epic level , and really fail to see how anyone could dislike the film and how easy it is too watch and fit their lives into. With all the action and fast motioned scenes, which are incredibly enticing it also includes a deep emotional side and relates the film to the emotional side of the film goers. On the whole i have this film 10 times and it just doesn’t stop getting better, an absolutely amazing piece of film.
